In a brief ceremony at his Office on Thursday, February 25, 2010, Lafayette Consolidated Government City/Parish President Joey Durel met with a contingent from the UL College of Engineering, to proclaim the week of March 8th 2010 as “Engineering and Technology Week” in the City and Parish of Lafayette. The College of Engineering has a full week of events scheduled on the UL Lafayette campus to celebrate Engineering and Technology Week. Wednesday, March 10, is an “open house” and the public is cordially invited to attend.

On Friday, January 29, 2010, Dr. Emad Habib, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at UL, was awarded the 2010 Louisiana Engineering Foundation Faculty Professionalism Award.

In the months since his recognition in 2009 by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award, Dr. Misra continues to receive recognition for his outstanding work. He has been appointed the editor of an international journal.

The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), formerly know as the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT), hosted its 2009 National Conference, “Emerging and Green Technologies for Today’s Economic Challenges,” November 10-14, 2009 in Louisville, Kentucky.

UL Chemical Engineering students are participating in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Chem-E-Car competition.

The Acadiana Alternative Energy Committee will hold the second lecture in its Fall Lecture Series on Wednesday, November 11.

The College of Engineering is proud to congratulate Dr. Ted Kozman and the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) team for their recent recognition by the US Department of Energy. The UL Center received a Center of Excellence Award recognizing the Director and Staff for “outstanding contributions to industrial energy efficiency” in 2008.

Right now, UL's TEAM BeauSoleil is on the National Mall in Washington DC with their innovative solar home, one of 20 teams competing in the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon. The competitors include universities from around the world, including Cornell, Ohio State, Rice, Illinois, Virginia Tech, and many others. UL Lafayette’s Team BeauSoleil is celebrating the completion of its solar home with a Bon Voyage celebration on Sept. 17. The goodbyes start at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2009, the College of Engineering hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Steel Monument, located in front of Madison Hall, the main engineering building.
