This year signifies 50 years of computing at UL and CACS 25th anniversary. To honor these milestones we will be celebrating our achievements and accomplishments with our friends, supporters, and alumni on Oct. 30th.

Computer Science Building, University of LouisianaThe Louisiana Computing Carnival 2009 will be a celebration of computing education and research at UL Lafayette. The Carnival will celebrate the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of Computing at the University (then called the University of Southwestern Louisiana) and the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of The Center for Advanced Computer Studies (CACS).

UL invites all its Computer Science (CMPS) and CACS alumni, supporters, and friends to join in this celebration. See the tremendous growth CMPS and CACS have experienced. What started in borrowed rooms of Stephens Hall, moved to occupying dorm rooms in the Conference Center, is now housed in its own magnificent building, overlooking beautiful Girard Park. The magnificent building also epitomizes the tremendous growth in computing education and research at UL.

Alumni, come and revisit your alma mater. Reconnect with your peers, who are distributed throughout the world. 'Alumni faculty', those whose professional growth has been intertwined with CMPS' and CACS' growth, join us in celebrating your contribution in building these world-class research and education departments. Supporters and Friends, see how your love, confidence, and generosity have paved the way for Louisiana to become a major player in high technology.

The Carnival will be a time to reminiscence significant milestones in the development of computing education and research at UL; a time to celebrate UL's excellence in computer science and computer engineering; to toast the accomplishments of CACS and CMPS alumni; and to look forward to the role we will continue to play in impacting the University, the State, the Nation, and the World.

We invite you to join the celebration of our success story and our plans for an ambitious future.
