LAFAYETTE- Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team hosted both ULM and McNeese State Sunday. The Cajuns were able to battle the Warhawks, Cowgirls and the sun to finish the day 2-0.

The Cajuns played the ULM Warhawks on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Louisiana won two out of the three doubles matches to take a quick 1-0 lead. The team of Julia Mazinova and Mia Gordon (pictured right) defeated ULM's Ana Burjaili and Lena Satge 8-1. Angela Dangond and Milou Israel defeated Warhawks Vivian Polak and Sharon Makhanya 8-4. Marina Ruiz de Gauna and Tara Vasovic lost to ULM's Claire Clark and Marion Lehmann.

Leading off for the Cajuns was Gordon's 6-4, 6-2 win over ULM's Satge. This gave the Cajuns a 2-0 advantage.

The Warhawks only win of the game came from ULM's Lehmann defeat over UL's Vasovic 6-0, 7-5.

Louisiana's Mazinova defeated ULM's Burjaili 6-1, 6-0. This gave the Cajuns a 3-1 lead.

UL's Dangond beat Polak 6-4, 6-4, securing the Cajuns win over ULM.

Ruiz de Gauna defeated her opponent, Makhanya 6-2, 7-5.

UL's Israel lost her first set to Clark 6-4, but came back in the second set and beat Clark 6-4. In the tie-breaker, Israel defeated Clark 10-6, and gave the Cajuns a 6-1 win.

UL 6 – McNeese 1

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns played McNeese State in the second part of their doubleheader Sunday. UL won all three of their doubles matches. The team of Mazinova and Gordon defeated MSU's Victoria Martinez and Ralista Pirdopska 8-3.

The team of Dangond and Israel beat Cowgirls Petra Gudelj and Maria Frausto 8-3. The team of Ruiz de Gauna and Vasovic defeated MSU's Inga Efimenko and Tea Tvrtkovic 8-5.

Louisiana entered the singles portion with a 1-0 lead.

The Cajuns won five out of the six singles matches. On court one, Dangond defeated Pirdopska 6-0, 6-3. UL's Mazinova defeated MSU's Martinez 6-1, 6-3. UL 's Israel defeated Cowgirl Gudelj 6-0, 6-4. Cajun Gordon defeated MSU's Tvrtkovic 6-4, 6-2. UL's Ruiz de Gauna beat MSU's Frausto 6-2, 6-3.

McNeese's only win came from the upset of UL's Vasovic. Vasovic was defeated by Efimenko 7-5, 6-1.

The Cajuns will travel to Florida next weekend to take on University of Central Florida, Florida International and Florida Atlantic. UL will be back at Cajun Courts for the last time this season Sunday, April 5 to face South Alabama at 10:00 a.m.
