Louisiana begins competition today in the Division I National Collegiate Water Ski Championships, where they will face arch-rival and overall leader ULM, and 10 other teams.  LSU will also compete in the Division II Championships.

Competition begins at 7 a.m. today through Saturday at Bennett’s Water Ski School, 18605 Barnett Road near Zachary.

ULM has the highest point total going into the tournament, followed by Florida Southern and UL.  A total of 22 teams are competing in the championships.

Seedings are by region.

In addition to Louisiana & ULM, the Division I slate includes Wisconsin-La Crosse, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Florida Southern, Alabama, Rollins College, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo and UC-Davis. 

The four regional champions include Clemson (East), Wisconsin-La Crosse (Midwest), ULM (South Central) and Cal Davis (Western).

The Division II competition includes Purdue, Wisconsin, Clemson, North Carolina, Texas State, Texas, LSU, Cal State-Chico, Western Washington and Iowa.
