LAFAYETTE – On a chilly and windy Saturday afternoon, The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns were unable to beat the #26 nationally ranked LSU Tigers, losing 6-1.
UL’s Angela Dangond and Mia Gordon won 8-7 (7-3) against Hannah Robinson and Nicole Smith of LSU.
Louisiana’s Marina Ruiz de Gauna and Tara Vasovic lost 3-8 to Tiger’s Megan Falcon and Mykala Hedberg. Julie Mazinova and Milou Israel of UL lost 3-8 to Nicole Kantor and Staten Spencer of LSU.
UL was unable to start off with a 1-0 lead into the singles matches against the Tigers.
Louisiana’s Mazinova was defeated by Megan Falcon, the 12th best player in the nation, 3-6, 2-6. Mazinova visually frustrated her opponent, even though she lost.
Ruiz de Gauna lost 0-6, 6-7 to Nicole Smith.
Gordon lost her singles match 6-3, 6-4.
Israel won her first set 6-4 against LSU’s Kantor. Unfortunately, Kantor came back in the next sets 3-6, 2-6. With Kantor’s win, the Tigers clinched the match.
Vasovic was defeated by Kylie Adamek 4-6, 6-3, 2-6.
After three sets, Dangond lost 7-5, 0-6, 3-6 to Hedberg.
The Cajuns, now 0-8, hope to gain a win as they host UALR Saturday, Mar. 7 at 10:00 a.m.
