Houston TX - The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns golf team recorded their fifth top 5 performance of the year as they finished third at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas.

The Cajuns entered the final round of competition in second place, but a final round of 301 dropped Louisiana to third place. UL finished nine strokes back of tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana. Sun Belt Conference foe Middle Tennessee finished in second place, eight strokes ahead of the Cajuns.

New Mexico State finished five strokes back of the Cajuns in fourth place, while tournament-host Houston rounded out the top 5.

The Cajuns placed a pair of golfers in the top 10.

Freshman Philipp Fendt recorded his highest finish of his young career, tying for fifth in the All-American Intercollegiate. His finish topped his previous best of 22nd place at the Mardi Gras Invitational on Feb. 9-10. Fendt turned in a final scorecard of 218 to finish the tournament two over par.

Fendt was followed by Thomas Petts who finished three strokes back of Fendt with a final score of 221. Petts carded a final round of 74 to tie for 10th overall.

One stroke back of Petts was Devin Carrey. The senior finished in a tie for 12th place, marking the fifth top 15 performance for Carrey this season.

Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns were Kyle Pritchard and Dustin Petit. The duo finished in a tie for 28th and 36th, respectively.

The Ragin’ Cajuns return to the course on Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10, as they play host to the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
