Lafayette - The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the University of Louisiana and the Center for American Progress, will host an exploration of the university’s research role in support of the Gulf Coast economy.

Two of the University’s newest superstars, Dr. Robert Twilley and Dr. Mark Zappi, will headline the presentation at the June 21st Business over Breakfast at the Cajundome Convention Center. Twilley, Vice President of Research, and Zappi, Dean of the College of Engineering, will be joined by Jeff Buchanan of the CAP.

The panel will unveil the concept of a Regional Innovation Corridor. The thrust is to make strategic investments in University research and to foster industry partnerships. Speakers will connect us to the current forces influencing innovation from Lafayette to Grand Isle.

The traditional feature of the mid-year event is the Chairman of the Board’s status report on the program of work. Chairman Flo Meadows will highlight the activities of the organization and to report on the balance of 2011 issues.

The Business over Breakfast is the Chamber’s second largest event of the year, and is expected to attract 600 members and guests.
