Gabriele Bridges and Christi Orgeron were named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American third team after leading the Cajuns to a 51-11 record, and a 13th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.

The two power hitters paced an offense that leads the nation in scoring at 7.76 runs per game and total offense at 481 runs.

Bridges, a senior from Lafitte, posted a career-high 22 home runs in 2011 to go along with 79 RBI and a .369 batting average, also career-highs. Bridges also blasted four grand slams on the season, setting an NCAA single-season record.

She finished the season in third place nationally with her 22 home runs and in second place in the nation with her 79 RBI.

Bridges finishes a very successful career for the Cajuns with 66 career home runs, the third highest total in school and Sun Belt history and the 14th best mark in NCAA history.

Orgeron, a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 finalist, finished the season with a historic 101 RBI. That total is the most in the nation, 22 ahead of Bridges who sits in second place. The 101 RBI total is the third highest single-season total in NCAA history, and the highest since 1996.

Orgeron, a junior from New Orleans, also posted a career-high 23 home runs and a career-high .414 batting average. The 23 homers rank as the second most in the nation. Orgeron also scored 75 runs on the season, the third highest total in the nation.

The two All-American selections mark the first time since 2003 (Danyele Gomez and Becky McMurtry) that two Cajuns were named to the All-American team in the same season. Louisiana has now had multiple All-Americans on 10 different occasions.

Bridges and Orgeron become the 21st and 22nd different Cajuns to earn All-American honors as UL has now grabbed 39 All-American awards in the 31-year history of the program.

Under co-head coaches Stefni and Michael Lotief, eight different Cajuns have now won 11 All-American awards. The All-American selections are the first for UL since 2009 when Karli Hubbard was named to the team.
