An update on the progress of TEAM BeauSoleil. Community involvement is very important to us and to our success as we continue to research and progress in all areas of the project including design, communications, media outreach, funding, and fabrication.

We are continuing to gain momentum and are looking forward to the future promise of the project. Our recent involvement has ranged from presenting to elementary through college students and interacting with local media. We are excited about the new partners offering support for TEAM BeauSoleil. Floor Complete...Shell Underway

TEAM BeauSoleil has been traveling back and forth to Louisiana System Built Homes of St. Martinville to continue construction of the BeauSoleil Solar Home. The floor is complete and the shell of the home, constructed of SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels) will be delivered to the warehouse in the upcoming weeks. Our commemoration event on March 4, 2009 will celebrate the shell delivery and jump start construction here in Lafayette.

BeauSoleil Visits Washington DC

As part of our preparation for the US Department of Energy 2009 Solar Decathlon, TEAM BeauSoleil flew to Washington D.C. for a weekend conference with the organizers of the competition. Representatives from all 20 universities around the world were present.

We were able to visit our site, located on the southeast corner lot of the US National Mall. We are excited about our next visit for the competition which takes place October 8-17, 2009.

BeauSoleil Solar Install Complete!

The 8’x13’ Solar Installation on the Madison Hall roof of UL’s campus is finally complete! We are proud to have hosted Lafayette’s Terry Huval and Associates of LUS for a walk-through of our solar installation. The installation is constructed of SIPs Panels, 12” standing seam metal roofing, and a photovoltaic rack and Sanyo Photovoltaic panels.

Thank you MBCI, Enphase, LMCurbs, Louisiana Solar Solutions, and LASBH for all materials provided!

TEAM BeauSoleil meets DOE Deadline

The US Department of Energy requires all teams to submit deliverables in preparation for the Solar Decathlon 2009. As part of the December 16 Deliverable, TEAM BeauSoleil submitted both Construction Documents, 134 pages of drawings and details; Project Manual, a compiled PDF of CSI MasterFormat 2004 Specifications; and Project Narratives.

We are confident that TEAM BeauSoleil is on a path to success.
