The 25th ranked Ragin' Cajuns got their second win of the Sun Belt Tournament to move into the driver's seat of their portion of the bracket. UL dropped Troy on Thursday night by a score of 7-3.

The win marks the ninth straight for the Cajuns (47-9) who move to 28-1 at Lamson Park. The Cajuns

Ashley Brignac (28-5) went the distance for the Cajuns, giving up just two hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.

Christi Orgeron, Nerissa Myers and Katie Smith each had two hits for the Cajuns while Orgeron posted four RBI. The Cajuns outhit Troy 9-2 on the night.

The Cajuns would jump up early with three runs in the second inning, starting with a lead off single from Brianna Cherry. Two fielder's choices would replace Cherry on first base with Natalie Fernandez with two out in the inning.

Katie Smith would reach on an infield single and move Fernandez to second. Nerissa Myers would then deliver an RBI single and move to second on a throw. With Myers and Smith standing in scoring position, Sun Belt Player of the Year Christi Orgeron delivered a two-RBI double to plate both speedsters and give UL a 3-0 lead.

The Trojans (31-26) would get one run back in the third inning thanks to a walk, a stolen base and a Kelly Lequette RBI single to pull themselves to within two at 3-1.

UL would extend the lead in the fourth inning thanks to some more fireworks from Orgeron. After Myers tripled with one out, Orgeron delivered her 21st home run of the season over the Lamson Park fence, moving her season RBI total to 90 and giving the Cajuns a 5-1 lead.

Troy would get two runs back in the sixth inning thanks to a two-run home run from Nikki Hollett to make the score 5-3.

UL would get both runs back in the top of the seventh inning to pull ahead 7-3. Fernandez led off the inning by reaching second base on a Trojan error. She then moved to third base on a wild pitch and scored on another error on a double steal attempt. Orgeron, who went to third on the error, scored on a wild pitch to give the Cajuns their final four-run advantage.

Ashlyn Williams (18-14) went the distance for the Cajuns, giving up seven runs, five earned, on nine hits with eight walks.

The Cajuns are now in the driver's seat in their portion of the bracket as they will next play at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cajuns will take on the winner of FIU and South Alabama who play at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

One more win by the Cajuns will advance them into Saturday's Championship Game.
