Starkville MS -- UL alumna Julia E. Hodges, a professor of computer science and engineering at Mississippi State University, is being named associate vice president for administrative services at the University.

A member of the faculty for 27 years and a former computer science and engineering department head, she will assume her new duties May 20.

Dr. Hodges is a bachelor's and master's degree graduate of MSU who received a doctorate from the University of Louisiana. In the Bagley College of Engineering, she was a Herrin-Hess Professor, one of that academic unit's major honors.

Her research areas include computer science education, broadening participation in computing, and leadership development for women in academia.  To view a list of her recent research, click here.

Formal approval of her promotion is pending approval by the Board of Trustees, State Institutions of Higher Learning.
