The 18th ranked Ragin' Cajuns used an 8-0 win over Middle Tennessee to sweep their third Sun Belt series of the season. The six-inning win extended the Cajuns current winning streak to eight games.

The Cajuns (36-6, 13-2) have won all five of their Sun Belt series thus far in 2011. The win moved UL to 40-3 all-time against Middle Tennessee, including 20-2 at Lamson Park. The shutout win moved the Cajuns to 20-1 at Lamson Park in 2011.

Ashley Brignac (22-3) went the distance for the Cajuns, throwing her sixth complete game shutout of the season. She gave up four hits in her six innings with five strikeouts while UL posted its 16th shutout of the season.

The Cajuns recorded 13 hits as a team with four different players posting two. Three different players also posted multiple RBI.

For the sixth consecutive game, the Cajuns scored in the first innings, plating a single run to take the early lead. Christi Orgeron got things started with a one-out double, her 13th two-bagger of the season. After a walk to Paige Cormier, Sarah Draheim delivered a two-out RBI single to plate Orgeron and give the Cajuns a 1-0 lead.

UL added three more in the second inning. Megan Granger, Katie Smith and Nerissa Myers all singled to load the bases for Gabriele Bridges. The Cajuns lone senior delivered a base-clearing, two-out single to put the Cajuns up 4-0 through two innings.

After Janele Robinson (3-10) settled in and held the Cajuns scoreless for three innings, UL struck for four more runs in the sixth. Myers led off with a single and was followed by Orgeron who hit her 18th home run of the season to extend the UL lead to 6-0. The two RBI moved Orgeron's season total to 71, just eight short of the school record.

The two-run bomb chased Robinson in favor of Caty Jutson. Cormier greeted Jutson with a single, Draheim then delivered an RBI double to put the Cajuns up 7-0. A walk to Brianna Cherry and a single by Natalie Fernandez loaded the bases for Jennifer Martin who delivered a sacrifice fly to close out the 8-0 win.

The Cajuns will break from Sun Belt action on Tuesday when they host Nicholls State at Lamson Park in a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader.
