After struggling on Monday, the Louisiana golf team put together its best round on Tuesday at the Jim West Intercollegiate to battle back from seventh place to finish fourth in the tournament.

The Cajuns posted a final round score of 291 (+3), besting Sunday's effort of 293 (+5) and making up for Monday's score of 304 (+16) to finish with a total tally of 888 (+24).

"I was proud of the guys bouncing back today," said UL head coach Theo Sliman. "We put together a good final round and hopefully this three-day event will help us as we prepare for the Sun Belt Championship. Everyone is coming home with something to work on."

Andrew Noto made the biggest move for UL on the afternoon. Noto started the day in a tie for 19th place after shooting an uncharacteristic 80 (+8) on Monday but went 2-under par over the final 18 holes to jump into a tie for 7th place with a final score of 219 (+3).

Two other Cajuns almost improved their stock on the final day to finish amongst the top-20.

Freshman Chris Weninger rebounded in the final round, firing off a 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for 13th place with a score of 221 (+5). The 1-over round moved him up three spots on the leaderboard from the start of the day.

Philipp Fendt continued his steady play, improving in each round to finish with a 73 (+1) and in a tie for 19th place. Over the three day event, he lowered his score each day to finish with a total score of 223 (+7).

Louisiana Tech won the team title with a score of 863 (-1). Southeastern Louisiana (871) and Texas Arlington (878) finished ahead of the Cajuns.

Southeastern Louisiana's Philipp Westermann took home medalist honors after shooting 7-under for the tournament.

Also included in the scoring for UL was Thomas Petts (230) and Ethan Savoy (236).

Ashton Abel competed as an individual for the Cajuns, shooting a career-low of 74 in the final round to finish with a score of 248.

The Cajuns will now look to build off this rebounding effort and set their sights towards the Club Glove Sun Belt Championships. This year's championship will be held on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Fighting Joe Course at The Shoals, in Muscle Shoals, Ala., April 25-27.
