Lafayette LA - The University of Louisiana Concert Series will present a guest artists recital featuring violinist Lina Bahn and pianist Stephen Vanhauwaert, on Tuesday February 15, 7:30 PM, in Angelle Hall Auditorium. They will perform works by Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Felder and Franck.

Lina Bahn has spent twelve seasons as part of the award-winning Corigliano Quartet. Their CD in collaboration with the Friedman Quartet was cited in the New Yorker’s “Best 10 Recordings” list. Bahn is currently the executive director and violinist with the Verge Ensemble at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. During the 2010 season, Ms. Bahn performed in an inauguration concert as the violinist of the Smithsonian’s National Gallery New Music Ensemble, and she now holds post as Assistant Professor of violin at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Stephen Vanhauwaert has been hailed by the Los Angeles Times for his “impressive clarity, sense of structure and monster technique.” His piano playing has claimed many prestigious awards such as the Maurice Lefranc award, the Rotary Prize, the Galiot Prize and the USC Concerto Competition. Vanhauwaert performs regularly throughout Europe and the US, both solo and in chamber groups. He recently finished his China solo debut tour in 2010, which was received with great critical acclaim.

Admission to this recital is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and children. The concert is free to UL students, faculty and staff with ID. Please call the School of Music at 482-6012 for more information or by clicking here.
