The UL School of Music and Performing Arts presents State of LA Danse November 11-13 at 7:30 pm and November 14, 2010 at 2:00pm. All performances are at the Ducrest-Gilfry Auditorium at Angelle Hall on the UL campus.

Alumni choreographers Marie Broussard, Kristi Carr and Jennifer Birou LaKampt will join resident faculty artist Kenneth L. Jenkins and guest artist Anna Morris to premiere dances especially commissioned for the UL dancers.

Assistant Professor of Dance Marie Broussard premieres 'A Wetland’s Journey' set to a musical score by BeauSoleil and Michael Doucet.

UL Dance Instructor Kristi Carr has created two new works. 'Sequins & Glitter' is a reflection on classic jazz dance to a score by Queen, while her contemporary dance work 'Risk of Return' is performed to music by Imogen Heap.

Guest Artist Jennifer Birou LaKampt, working to 'Primavera' by Ludovico Einaudi, has created a touching duet entitled 'As We Lay'.

Responding to memories of her father who was a tracker in the Rhodesian Bush war, guest artist Anna Morris, originally from Zimbabwe, has created 'Sparrow Part I' and 'Sparrow Part II'. The Rhodesian Police Force referred to trackers as sparrows during the war.

'Spirit Shelter' is a new dance by Coordinator of Dance Kenneth L. Jenkins and is a response to issues of societal divisions.

Tickets for State of LA Danse are only available at Angelle Hall prior to each performance. Tickets are $10.00 for general admission, $5.00 for UL Alumni, Senior Citizens, Children and Students. UL Faculty, Staff and Students are admitted free of charge with a valid ID
