MOBILE, Ala. – At least one of the University of South Alabama women’s basketball team’s games during the 2010-11 season will be televised as the Sun Belt Conference unveiled its television schedule for the upcoming season on Tuesday. USA’s contest versus Louisiana-Lafayette on Jan. 30 will be aired on the Sun Belt Network with tip-off time versus the Ragin’ Cajuns set for noon.

The league office also announced both its preseason all-conference teams and predicted order of finish for each division on Tuesday. The Lady Jags were chosen to finish in a tie with Florida International for third in the preseason poll as voted on by the 12 head coaches around the league. Both USA and FIU received 43 total votes, while Western Kentucky received 11 of the 12 first-place votes in the East Division. Defending conference champion Middle Tennessee picked up the other first-place vote in the division. Following USA and FIU, Florida Atlantic and Troy rounded out the rest of the division in that order.

“Clearly, these preseason rankings are designed to get people talking about the upcoming season,” South Alabama head coach Rick Pietri said. “When you look on paper at what Western Kentucky has coming back, you can see why they were picked number one in the division. Middle Tennessee is up there also because of the gifted players that they still have and because of the great recruiting class they had. Coach (Rick) Insell runs a good system, so that’s why I think you see them picked second. Us and Florida International were picked right after them because of what both of us have coming back. The bottom line is that after we all play our first conference game, everyone is going to forget about the preseason rankings and focus on what’s immediately in front of them at that time.”

In the West, UALR was a unanimous selection to win the division and the Trojans’ Chastity Reed was selected as the league’s preseason player of the year. UALR led all teams with three all-conference selections, while Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and Denver each had two selections.

USA did not have a player earn all-conference honors on Tuesday.
