The Iridium Saxophone Quartet will perform in the Angelle Hall choral room on the UL campus on Oct. 17 at 3 p.m.

This concert, presented by the UL Concert Series, features vibrant and engaging chamber music created by a group of musicians with nearly ten years of shared collaboration.

Iridium Saxophone Quartet comprises saxophonists Paul Nolen, soprano; Marcos Colón, alto; Paul Forsyth, tenor; and Eric Lau, baritone. The group has an impressive 2010 concert season that includes working with internationally known composer David Maslanka to record his saxophone quartet, Recitation Book.

Members of Iridium have also won top prizes in many competitions including the MTNA National Chamber Music and Solo competitions, and the North American Saxophone Alliance Solo Competition.

Nolen teaches saxophone at Illinois State University, Colon is currently a doctoral student and graduate assistant at Louisiana State University, Forsyth teaches saxophone at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and Lau teaches saxophone at the University of New Mexico.

General admission $10. High school students $5. UL students, faculty, and staff are free.
