Louisiana bounced back from Friday's loss to Houston with a 2-1 win over Lamar at a wet Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility. UL scored two goals in the first half and held on for their third win of the season.

Jordan Blevins put the Cajuns (3-1-0) on top with a 21st minute strike off of a Courtney Hofland assist. The long pass from Hofland found a hole in the Cardinals (0-2-0) defense and hit a streaking Blevins inside the box.

The assist gave Hofland nine for her career, tying her for second on the Cajuns all-time assist list. It also gave the senior 43 career points, the most ever by a Cajun.

The Cajuns would get what would prove to be the game winner in the 42nd minute off of the foot of captain Gayla Foster. Foster fired off one shot that was blocked by Lamar goalie Jennifer Gibbs, but Foster was there to put her own rebound into the back of the net, giving the Cajuns 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Lamar would get one goal back in 69th minute off of a Kari Busch strike.

Sunday's game proved to be just as physical as Friday's, as the Cajuns and Cardinals were given a combined four yellow cards and committed 15 and 16 fouls, respectively.

The Cajuns out-shot Lamar, 15-14, and put eight of those 15 on goal, compared to the Cardinals five shots on goal. Foster led UL with three shots on the day while Laura Hicks paced the Cardinals with four.

Amanda Moorefield (3-1), played the entire 90 minutes in goal for the Cajuns, picking up the win and getting three saves to her credit.

Jennifer Gibbs (0-2) stopped six shots for the Cardinals, but two goals allowed was enough to pin her with the loss.

The Cajuns will finish the month of August with three wins for the first time in program history.

UL returns to the pitch on Friday when they travel to Natchitoches to take on Northwestern State. Kickoff for that contest is set for 7:00 p.m.
