Lafayette, LA–Hundreds of Acadiana businesses are taking advantage of millions of dollars in workforce training grants and resources and your business may be able to, also. The Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) will host a seminar, Resources for Employers: Training Grants, Funding, and Workforce Services, to provide information on workforce training resources. The seminar will take place on Thursday, May 27, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, at the South Louisiana Community College, 320 Devalcourt St., Lafayette, LA.

LEDALocal training providers will offer information on available training courses. Businesses can register for classes and apply for funding at the seminar. Some of the programs that will be featured include the Small Business Employee Training Program (SBET), the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) and Louisiana FastStart.

Businesses with 50 or fewer employees may be able to use SBET which provides up to $3,000 per employee for annual workforce training. IWTP provides funding on a competitive basis to companies to train their employees by designing a 12-month, customized workforce training plan. The new Louisiana workforce program, Louisiana FastStart, provides customized recruitment, screening and training to new and expanding, eligible companies at no cost.

Information about other no-cost workforce recruitment services, the On-the-Job-Training Program, Louisiana Registered Apprenticeship Program, and services for small businesses available through the Small and Emerging Business Development Program will also be presented.

There is no cost to attend, but seating is limited. The seminar is co-sponsored by the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.
